From the airport, St. Gallen can be reached conveniently by direct train in approximately one hour, with frequent connections throughout the day. The train journey is straightforward and reliable, making it the preferred option for most visitors.
St. Gallen is also well connected to the international rail network, with regular direct or convenient connecting services from major hubs such as Zurich and Munich. Timetables and tickets for both domestic and international train travel are available via the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB).
Upon arrival at St. Gallen main station, the city is easy to navigate. A well-functioning bus network connects the station to the university and surrounding neighborhoods, and many locations can also be reached comfortably on foot.
Traveling by car is generally not recommended, as parking in the city is limited and often expensive. In particular, parking at the university is restricted and incurs additional costs. Visitors who do arrive by car are advised to use designated blue zone parking areas, for example along Dufourstrasse or Gatterstrasse, keeping in mind the time limitations that apply.
